食物和水是生存下去的必備要素。遊戲中擁有許多不同種類的食物，不同食物也會有不同的營養價值（甚至還有人肉！）所有的行動都會消耗食物和水，長距離的旅行更是會持續性的消耗這些物品。攜帶物品的重量會影響你的行動速度，日夜轉換和天氣狀況也會影響你周圍的環境，，使你更加容易饑餓與口渴。製作衣服、建立庇護所並利用火去對抗當地惡劣、多變的環境，保護自己。

收割，建造房屋，繪製

伐木、採礦、採集各種物資，成為一代生產大師。利用你的雙手、工作臺和機床去製作越來越複雜和強力的裝備。利用組裝式的部件去建造你的大型基地，從茅草到木頭到石頭再到鋼鐵，各種材料隨你選擇。你還可以利用噴繪定制你的專屬基地，放置可以寫字的公告板宣誓你的領地。武器、衣服、護甲等也都可以被塗上不同顏色來顯示你的個性和與眾不同的品味。

你可以攜帶聖物去島上特殊的召喚地點喚醒方舟中的神秘生物，這些神秘生物都有強大的攻擊性，他們為遊戲中最強大的部落和寵物提供了終極的成就和目標，一旦擊殺他們，這些部落和寵物也將收穫豐富的獎勵。

部落系統

與你的朋友們一起創建一個部落，這樣你所有所馴化的生物也都可以被你盟友所運用。你的部落同盟也可以通過你家中復活點進行復活。同時，將你的部落盟友提升至更高的級別可以使你免去些管理上的重擔。將關鍵物品及暗號分配出去來建設你的部落吧。

角色扮演式的成長體系

所有物品都需依照藍圖來進行製作——藍圖有著多樣的資料統計和品質，並會對資源有著一定要求。更加偏遠及殘酷的位置擁有者更上乘的資源：包括最高的山脈，最黑的洞穴，最深的海洋！你可以通過各種行為來升級你的角色，升級你所馴化的生物，或學習新的“記憶印記”來不用藍圖便製造物品。你還可以通過角色的頭髮，眼睛以及膚色來個性化自己。

超硬核的遊戲模式

任何你製作的物品都有個耐久度，如果不對其進行修復便會耗盡。當你離開遊戲時，你的角色會在這永久運行的世界中陷入沉睡。你的物品會被安置在貨箱中或角色的身上。任何事物可以被撿起，偷竊；因此，你必須建起一定的安全措施，或建造建築，或安排生物看守。死亡是永久的，同時，你也可以被打暈，抓捕，並強迫其他玩家食用；還可以對其抽血，將其糞便用以施肥，甚至將其作為你寵物的食料！

探索及發現
